We purchased this kit to fulfill the "artistic" flair of our 12 y/o son. It makes for an excellent starter kit; the DVD video is informative and demonstrates a variety of pattern making strategies, and the dyes are the primary colors so they can combined to make whatever color you'd like. Despite best efforts it's a pretty messy process -- do it on a large sheet of plastic next to a sink -- but worthwhile. The end product is great, and it seems nearly impossible to screw up. One piece of advice: squirt on plenty of dye else you end up with lots of uncolored spots. While it will only produce about 10 shirts, how many do you need?
