Painting it was really fun, even though the castle was pretty much gray, and the dragon was green. BUT, however i did make my whole garden thing have a silver/purple "theme". I got it on x-mas and today my grass is 1 inch long on most seedlings. I planted the seeds, then watered, then(like most people) expected the GRASS to shoot right up and grow quick. woah was i wrong. normal grass is very quick growing and i though this was normal grass.. well normal for a twelve year old.This grass happends to be wheat grass! The grass seeds given have the apperance of small corn kernalls(how do you spell that dang word?). You water.. you water... you wait a week.. wait another week.. then, in the middle of thinking you did something wrong, the tiniest little green thing is barely showing though the dirt. You fall asleep and wake up the next morning.. 20 green grass blades are bout three cenemeters tall and looking like they have been there for days, maybe a week! Point is, the grass is tricky. With the basil though... same amount of time( i set this up on christmas day) one tiny seed has sprouted, but i don't have much expectations for the basil anyway, so it can do what it likes! Before the grass was sprouting, as soon as i found out it was wheat grass, i went online as found out wheat grass is just very high quality grass.(in the plant world.) I ,gardener exdorninaire,was suprized i did not know this. Anywho,.. This garden is great! It fit in very nicely with my other gardening gifts, a chia frog(fav animal), and a galactic garden.(cool grow-in-gel plant thing). Be aware, i am a very patient pre-teen(12), but this "toy" was apparently made for "younger" "kids"(silly right?) and i would make sure if giving it to a kid make sure they have a ounce of patience in them. other than that, they will love it! I bought these for my twenty-two month cousin after he laid absolute waste to a 96-pack of regular crayons that I had lying about.

The first time I handed them to him, I noticed a definite improvement in his control and grip of the crayons. He never had actual difficulties with regular size crayons, but it was definitely easier for his toddler hands to grip these. So even if your under four year old seems to be doing well with regular crayons, it's worth buying a pack to see if there's a surprising improvement.

It's a pretty standard palette of primary and secondary colours, plus black.

Attempts to colour his clothes and himself have failed utterly, thankfully. He occasionally has coloured the floor tile or the kitchen table but it removed easily with a slight scuffing from a socked foot or a shirt sleeve over a hand. The one time he got to the wall, a quick scuff withMr. Clean Magic Eraser - 10-Count got it to come right off. So I'm not entirely sure you even need the washables.

All in all, these crayons aren't invincible - they will break, and probably quicker than you like. Not as quickly as the regular crayons, but I'm still sad to see them reduced to stubs.

The Crayolas are made of a harder substance and thus the colors do not easily glide onto the paper as is the case with Berols. This is important when you need to be precise in coloring small detail. Crayola Washable Window Crayons Top Quality

We got both the 8 pack of glass markers and the crayons to try both out. The crayons give a darker, more "durable" color. If you want to color in an area (like a circle for example) use the crayons for certain. If you are only doing letters or lines the markers work just fine. We've found that the markers tended to streak and not give a full fill in when used to color things in.

As for clean up - the markers are a bit easier to clean up since they don't go on as thick - but I prefer windex and then water for streaks (and I tend to get streaks, my mom says she doesn't but I don't think her kids lay it as on as thick as mine do). My recommendation - use a clean (sponge, paper towel, whatever) the first go round, then another clean paper towel for the left over (shouldn't really be any left over color at this point) and streaks.

I have read horror stories in other reviews of staining (you name it - wood, cloth, etc.). So paper towels for clean up it probably the best otherwise towels and sponges will get annoying to replace after a while. I have not had any issues with staining of hands, but I am using it with kids age 8 & 11 who apparently don't like getting their hands dirty or just aren't telling me so I can't speak to cleaning this off of skin.Get more detail about Crayola Washable Window Crayons.
