My 8-year-old son enjoyed putting this kit together and painting it very much. It was quite simple to assemble and paint, and was an inexpensive craft for him to learn a little about working with paint, glue, and wooden pieces.
My one complaint was that a couple of the pieces in the deck portion were splintered off. The finished product was o.k., as we managed to turn them in such a way that it didn't show much.
