My 18 month old is far beyond the starter flatware, you know the forks that really can't pick anything up, and the skinny infant spoons that toddlers can barely hold? This set fits the bill for her, as well as my 4 year old who's ready to start learning how to use a knife. The fork isn't quite as great as I had hoped, however it works fairly well, and the points are rounded, so the child really can't hurt themselves, which is obviously the most important thing.
Both of my kids have an easy time holding these. they are dishwasher safe in the top rack, and come in a cute little tube that you can use for travel. I emailed the company to ask if the plastic contained any PVC/phthalates, and they responded within 24 hours with a copy of a lab test report. It seems that there is no lead or phthalates, so I feel these are one of the safer options available on the market right now.
