I bought these for my two year old who wanted to color on the dry erase board after seeing me use it with my piano students. I didn't want to let her use the markers. These crayons work well, and they do not smell like dry erase markers, a plus for me. My only complaint is that they do not erase easily. You have to rub them off the board instead of wiping like a regular dry erase marker. You can also use these on some laminated surfaces. I have a map of the US that my daughter likes to color on.
