I bought this set because of the larger variety of lid colors and for this reason alone they trump the Melissa & Doug (M&D) containers. What they lack though, is the gripping area of the inner ring that is available on the M&D product. As a result, sometimes the inner ring is also pulled off in an attempt to remove the lid. I also found it necessary to pull off some excess plastic around the lip of the container (production issue) so that the lid could click to a snug fit.
